More Than You'll Ever Know

4/24/13
She like a garnish on the top that you toss to the side,
pretty to the eye, but it ain't gonna fly.

Thinkin' she'll stay 'cause you caught her lil eye,
but she catchin' on your game, and she's catchin' a ride.

It ain't about beauty or the shade of the skin,
but she's more than a pretty; she's a pretty little win.

You're playin' with a master, she's the master of her will,
'cause she can make your life easy or Hell on the hill.

It's coming up fast and you're hittin' the ground
reachin' up first, but then she turnin' around

She played in the game and she thought it was cool
til soon it turned quickly and she run like a fool.

This isn't complete by any means...  It's more of a "rap" than a poem I suppose. It's intended to be read at a pretty good clip.

Masks

Another old poem i did..it is supposed to describe how someone feels from living behind a mask for so long.. not one of my best but i like it :)

The person on the outside
is not what's on the in
I'll have to still dig deeper
and find the inner whim

I try to be the real me
I try with all my might
but it's all bcome a habit,
a habit I must fight

The person that you see
is not the me I am
I really want to change that
I really hope I can

I'll reach a little deeper
and fight away my masks
maybe soon I'll win this battle
and drop the masks at last

I guess it's pretty hard to fight
a fear from long ago
I'll fight this life-long habit
and end my little show

I've sought for their attention
but now I've found some proof
that's not what I am searching for
I want friendship and the truth

The masks I hope are falling
but stress is taking hold
my battle's getting harder
I fear my plans will fold

I'll put the stress behind me
for matter it does not
the only thing to work on
Is showing the me that I've got

But maybe that's the problem
why 've got this very mask
I'm holding all the stress in
and it's making me turn back

I don't want to lose this battle
I want an open door
one to throw my masks out
and leave forever more

A Heart on Fire

I wrote this a long time ago.. haven't done poetry in a long time but this one has always been one of my favorites for some reason and I just keep coming back to it! It describes how the fire in a heart can turn from a good thing to a terrible thing

A flicker, a spark,
grew into a flame
soon a large fire
then put out again

A heart filled in awe
and maybe simple wonder
then turning all of life
into quite a plunder

Releasing wild fire
that is never in control
turning love against me
and never for my hold

Try to tame a fire
but try becomes a fail
now engulfing others
my heart will never sail

The fire is a burn
it's one that never eases
the flames all lick with hunger
and tear us all to pieces

I try to heal the hurt, the pain
I rise again and take my aim
but all too soon it srikes the hand
what's left behind is all that stands

Should I cease?
Or shall i rise?
I look to God
I lift my eyes

The battle's over
or so i think
the fire's won
my heart will sink

A cure not present
in this world
I'll let it settle,
I'll let it heal

Daddy's Little Girl

This is just a short poem I wrote for my dad for Father's day 2011, hope you like it as much as he did! :)

Right from the start I’ve had a hold on your heart
From laughing to crying and all that’s between
You’ve made my life special from baby to teen
With memories behind us and dreams in the wings

The years have gone quickly and soon I’ll leave home
But I’ll always be your little girl whose hand you can hold
Thank you for loving me all the years I have grown
You’re the very best daddy this girl could adore

Happy Father’s Day to the very best dad

Reckless Abandon

Running so quickly
I forgot what's behind
Where I am running
Now I've gone blind

God was my passion,
but then I got lost
lost in temptation
just one little loss

My heart I abandoned
or so it had seemed
but now it's a-wan'drin
and it's all 'cause of ME

Selfish and tempted
I fell in the snare
lost all my conscience
of what's really there

I long for His touch
a feeling of gold
hugging me closely
'til I'm no longer cold

My body feels weary
so weak and so old
limp in His his right hand
He has an ever firm hold

Wiping my tears
I look at His face
He tells me, "No longer,
will tears stain your face."

I've never felt stronger
than in this place
the place of my Father
we're here; face to face

Magnificent Savior
He loves us so much
always and ever
He's waiting for us

With reckless abandon
we run to the Lord
finding a fullness
and soon His reward
